Do you want to learn how to make your own piece of functional art? Join artist Julie Sheil for this two-hour workshop where you’ll learn a hands-on weaving technique for making coiled baskets and bowls.

Each student will be provided with enough supplies to make two small baskets. During class, you will:

• Learn about different types of yarn and coiling cord and how they impact the design of your project.
• Learn how to begin the hand weaving process.
• Learn how to use the best weaving technique for making a sturdy, professional looking coiled basket/bowl.
• Learn how to complete the weaving process and finish your basket/bowl.
• Receive a handout with a summary of the information presented in class, as well as a list of my favorite yarns/yarn companies.

Please note that a small basket may take up to ten hours to complete, so there won’t be enough time during class to make one from start to finish. Due to time constraints, each student will leave class having started their first basket or bowl, and with enough information to be able to finish weaving at home on their own time.

*This class is for ages 18 and up only.
